It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rose Astorino-Salzano after a courageous battle with cancer. She departed peacefully with her family by her side.
Through her kindness, grace, and compassion, Rose touched the lives of all those around her. Her unwavering strength and resilience as she faced the challenges of her illness made her an inspiration to all who knew her.
Rose’s selflessness and generosity knew no bounds. Her warm and radiant smile left a mark of love in the hearts of family and friends. Known as “Madame” to her students, teaching for her was a calling, and she dedicated herself to each student’s learning, growth, and happiness every time she stepped into the classroom. Rose and her family are very grateful for the incredible support that she received from the St. Thomas More Collegiate community.
Above all, she was devoted to her family. She is survived by her husband David and cherished children Luca (Susie), Vanessa (Gabe) and Valentina, her parents Ada and Antonio, sister Francie (Ryan), zia Adelina (Mario - deceased), mother-in-law Adua, father-in-law Giuseppe, sisters-in-law Maria (Jeff), Lianna (Darren – deceased) and Denise (Casey), all her nieces and nephews who adored her: Niko, Siena, Cristian, Gianluca, Justin, Luciana, Sergio, Santino, and many dear friends.
Special thanks to the dedicated health professionals at the BC Cancer Agency, VGH, Royal Columbian Hospital, Stanford University Healthcare Center, and Burnaby Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit.
