It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sidney Paul Nichvolodov, who left us on May 27, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on July 11, 1960, in North Vancouver, British Columbia, he was the beloved son of Alex(2010) and Mary. In 1974, the family relocated to Kelowna, where Sidney would go on to create lasting memories and friendships.
Sidney attended Dr. Knox Middle School and graduated from Kelowna Secondary School in 1978. His passion for horticulture led him to pursue further education at Olds College in Alberta, followed by Thompson Rivers University in British Columbia, where he honed his skills and knowledge in the field.
Throughout his career, Sidney made significant contributions to the community, working on notable projects such as the City of Golden BC's floral city limit marker and Old MacDonald's Farm in West Kelowna. He later became a valued and reliable employee for various landscaping construction firms in West Kelowna and Richmond BC, where his dedication and expertise were greatly appreciated.
Beyond his professional achievements, Sidney was an avid country line dance enthusiast. He enjoyed competing at various festivals alongside his former spouse, Joyce, sharing his love for dance and music with others.
Sidney is survived by his loving mother, Mary, and his cherished siblings, Larry, Peter, and Diana. He is also remembered fondly by his beloved nieces, Katheryn and Jessica, and her husband, Marlon. Sidney is predeceased by his father, Alex, who passed away in 2010. The memories of the joy he brought to their lives will be held dear by all. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
A private service will be held at the family cemetery in Benito, Manitoba, at a later date. In lieu of a public gathering, an online tribute page will be hosted by the funeral home, where friends and family can share their memories and condolences.
