Simeon Crucillo Cemaña, 98, of Chilliwack, British Columbia, joined our Creator on December 7, 2025.
Simeon is best known as “Papay”, and he was born on March 13, 1927 in Tiwi, Albay, Philippines. He grew up in Tiwi, lived a full life as a farmer, barber, with a deep love for reading, sports [especially boxing], geography, and politics.
In 1948, Simeon married Maria Javier Consulta, who he lovingly called “Bey”, and together they built a strong Consulta-Cemaña legacy. Papay will be remembered most for his gentleness, humour, radiant smile, wisdom, heart for the Filipino Association of Chilliwack (FILAC), and his famous outro “Thank you, very much”.
Papay is survived by his:
Children: Anita, Jemina, Virgilio, Leonarda, Sonia, Francia, Michael, Domingo, Miriam, Leila, & Benjamin.
Grandchildren: Eleanor, Dyrel, Revelena, Zandro, Joan, Arnel, Joy, Jaena, Nixon, Laarni, Liezyl, Verna, Jojo, Andrew, Alexis, Jesus, Vincent, Ivy, & Divine.
Great Grandchildren: Jasper, Hannah, Cassandra, Breanna, Zachary, Derelyn, Jian, Raine, Renz, Brielle, & Edlar Ruiz.
He was preceded in death by his wife Maria Javier “Bey” and his son and daughters: Lolita, Ernesto, & Maria; and son-in-laws: Larry & Godofredo.
The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to all the First Responders who took extra care with our dear Papay during his last moments.
Though he is no longer with us, Papay’s legacy of gentleness, compassion, kindness, and leadership will continue to inspire his family and all who were blessed to know him.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
