Stephanie Llewellyn, also known as Good Feather Woman, passed away peacefully at the Royal Columbian Hospital in Vancouver on June 5, 2025, at the age of 56, following a heart attack related to a rare form of muscular dystrophy.
Born on December 19, 1968, in Thompson, Manitoba, Stephanie lived a vibrant life filled with curiosity, kindness, and creativity. Her early years took her across Manitoba and British Columbia, with time spent in Thompson, Brandon, Winnipeg, and Vancouver. During the COVID-19 era, she also briefly resided in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. She cherished her visit to her ancestral home on Keeseekoose First Nation in Saskatchewan, a journey that held deep meaning for her.
Stephanie is lovingly remembered by her devoted and loving husband Joe; her mother Myrna; her sister Katrina; her cherished nieces Nellie, Kaitlyn, and Breeanna; her special uncle Ted and his wife Gladys, and their children. She also leaves behind many cousins and friends who were touched by her warmth and generosity.
Among the many meaningful relationships in her life, Stephanie shared a profound and lasting bond with her dear friend James. His unwavering companionship, care, and support were a constant source of strength and comfort to her, especially during challenging times. Their friendship was a true gift.
A free spirit with a sharp intellect, Stephanie was multi-talented. She worked as a store clerk, computer software assistant, and a mental health support worker. She completed post-secondary coursework and had an enduring love for learning. Her favorite job was working at a video store, where her passion for film truly flourished. Stephanie was a lifelong movie lover, and her dedication to cinema led her to volunteer with the Vancouver International Film Festival and other local film events for over a decade.
Her travels took her to many different parts of the world, from Hong Kong to Cuba, Mexico, and across the United States. She approached life with openness, compassion, and a deep respect for others. She accepted people as they were, without judgment.
Stephanie was an avid reader and a lover of music, ideas, and conversation. She remained intellectually engaged throughout her life and had a deep appreciation for art, culture, and human connection. She delighted in movies, concerts, plays, dining out, and the company of her loved ones. Her friendships were deep and lasting, and she embraced life with joy and purpose.
Stephanie bravely and effectively managed mood disorder challenges that accompanied her for much of her life. Her strength, resilience, and determination were a testament to her inner spirit and courage.
