Surrounded by love, Tarcisio Boffo, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully and will be deeply missed.
Tarcisio was born in Ca’Rainati di San Zenone degli Ezzelini, Treviso, Italy, on March 10, 1940, to Angela and Fortunato Boffo. He peacefully passed away at the age of 85 on October 31, 2025, returning to his heavenly home.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lina; his children, Flavia (Steve) and Daniel (Michelle); his grandchildren, Joshua (Sable), Nathaniel (Kiyomi), Matisse, Milan, and Noémie; and his great-grand-daughter, Rome. He is also survived by his sisters Rita, Elsa, and Rosetta, and his brothers Stefano, Ottavio, and Marcello. He was predeceased by his siblings Mario and Agnese.
At 18, Tarcisio left Italy for Switzerland and later immigrated to Vancouver at the age of 21. Hardworking and unafraid of challenges, he built a successful life in landscaping and in building, with trust, integrity, and sheer tenacity. Everyone who knew him respected his word and admired his work ethic.
A man of deep Catholic faith and proud Italian heritage, Tarcisio found joy in bringing people together. He helped build culture and community through the Gruppo Folcloristico Trevigiano Veneto and, in 2000, commissioned the Monument to Honour Canada’s Immigrants in Il Giardino Italiano at Hastings Park — a tribute to those who, like him, built new lives through hard work and hope. Above all, family was at the heart of Tarcisio’s life and his greatest joy.
Tarcisio will be remembered for his warmth, humility, and devotion to family. Quiet and thoughtful, he listened more than he spoke — a man of gentle strength and a generous heart. To all who knew and loved him, his memory lives on.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 8th at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, 1450 Delta Avenue, Burnaby. Family and friends may view Tarcisio’s Funeral Mass online at Media Sanctuary - YouTube click the link and ‘subscribe’.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Covenant House Vancouver (covenanthousebc.org) or to the Missionaries of Charity (https://rcav.org/about/religious-communities/women/mc) in memory of Tarcisio.
