Ted Stein, loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away at his home in Vancouver on July 16, 2025, at the age of 88. Ted was born and raised in Toronto, and moved to BC with his family in the late 70’s. He worked until the age of 77 at his small advertising business, and maintained friendly ties with his clients during his working years. Ted recovered courageously from several major health complications in the past decade, and lived many happy years thanks to the loving care of his adoring wife and best friend, Patty. Ted’s greatest joys in life were being pampered by Patty, spending time with his granddaughters, Madeleine and Gabrielle, and his daughter, Sharon and her husband, Amable. He delighted in phone calls and visits from his nieces and nephews, his treasured brother Sheldon, cousins and relatives near and far, as well as friends and neighbours. Ted was a generous and loving man who never failed to offer his time and resources to others, and lived his entire life by the principle that it is more blessed to give than to receive.
Ted was heartbroken to have lost his parents, Lillian and Henry Stein, his younger brothers David, Philip and Alan, and his sisters-in-law Carol and Anita.
Ted is survived by his wife and life partner, Patty Patrick, his daughter, Sharon, and her husband, Amable, his granddaughters, Madeleine and Gabrielle, his beloved brother, Sheldon, his much loved sister-in-law, Connie, and many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private viewing for the family will be held Friday, July 25 at Kearney Funeral Services, 450 West 2nd Avenue, Vancouver, from 4 to 5 p.m.
A celebration of Ted’s life and his interment will take place later in August.
