Ugo Guiotto

Ugo passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on September 27, 2025, in Vancouver, BC, at the age of 90. Predeceased by his parents and a brother. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Angelina, his sons Joe (Adele) and Dennis (Kelly), his 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and his brother and 4 sisters.

Ugo was born in Valdagno, Italy. Came to Canada in 1956 and was married in 1957. He was very proud of his beautiful wife Angelina, who was by his side his entire life, he said he could not do what he did without her.

Ugo was a very strong man and proudly worked for Dominion Construction for 44 years, and was involved in their biggest projects, including the 4 Bentall Buildings.

Ugo was very proud of his accomplishments for a man with a grade 3 education during wartime. He got himself into many difficult work situations over the years, and when he looked back at some his incredible accomplishments, he credited his dad, who died when he was 12, for somehow giving him strength during those difficult moments. He built 4 homes, 2 without the use of power tools.

Although he was always working, he left Sundays free for occasions with family and friends. He enjoyed the many times at Confederation Park where he could always play a game of bocce and share a glass of wine and food with good friends that were like family and other fellow countrymen or people he had worked with over the years. He enjoyed the times he went with his family to the top of Grouse Mountain, where he would open his knapsack and take out cold cuts, cheese, and wine. His main vacations were going back to Italy to be around family and friends, and usually involved some work projects.

He liked making bread & polenta and always wanted to make sure there was more than enough food for any occasion. He was proud of his meticulous garden and his homemade wine made partially with his backyard grapes.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Oct 7, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, 5251 Joyce St., Vancouver, BC.
