Young Sook Naito passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026, in Vancouver, Canada, at the age of 90.
Born in Youngdong, Chungcheong-do, South Korea, she attended the prestigious Ewha Womans University where she majored in law.
In 1959, she married Kim Ki Sang who passed away in 1981, and together they had two children – Heesun Kim and Choo Han Kim.
She immigrated to Canada in 1979 and married Arthur Naito in 1982, and together they made their home in Kitsilano, Vancouver, raising a blended family from 1984 that included her children Heesun and Han and stepchildren Charles and Clara.
Young Sook was known for her dedication to community service, her strength of character, and her love for her family. A devoted grandmother, she cherished her grandchildren and expressed her affection generously. She took pride in her health and well-being and embraced both her Korean heritage and her Canadian life.
She is survived by her son, Han (Ho Jung); her granddaughters, Sarah (Jon), Caroline, and Joanne; her stepdaughter, Clara (Bob); and her stepson, Charles (Hiroko).
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 11th 2026 at the Kearney Funeral Services on 450 W. 2nd Ave, Vancouver at 10:30 a.m.
